Remove the Yoast SEO WordPress admin widget with just a few lines of code.

We’re going to start off by saying we’re huge fans of Yoast SEO. It’s a standard plugin on every website we build and manage, it’s so widely used, when I login to WordPress sites not built by us and I don’t see Yoast installed, I’m almost confused for a second. I can’t think of a single reason not to use this plugin.

If you’re looking for a cleaner appearance upon logging into WordPress the good news is you can remove the dashboard widgets quite easily. We’re going to cover how to quickly remove the Yoast SEO admin dashboard widget now.

Note: You can also turn the widgets off by using the “Screen Options”  tab, but that’ll only work for your login. You’ll want to utilize this code to ensure other users don’t have to see it.

Go ahead and open your theme or child theme’s functions.php file and add the following code:

//Remove Yoast Dash Widget
add_action('wp_dashboard_setup', 'remove_wpseo_dashboard_overview' );
function remove_wpseo_dashboard_overview() {

  remove_meta_box( 'wpseo-dashboard-overview', 'dashboard', 'normal' );

Save and refresh your wp-admin and you’re all set!
